#IAmRemarkable X LEMI

I was delighted to collaborate with Helen Iwata and Heather Dobbins at the LEMI event on May 10th 2025 to deliver my 12th Pro Bono #IAmRemarkable workshop and this event took me over the 100 participant line to 117 participants . A flurry of unexpected late sign ups brought a bigger than expected group and I definitely felt the time challenge with such an active and engaged group.

In each session, I get different takeaways as a facilitator based on what the unique blend of participants brings to the session. But before that let me share some voices from the remarkable participants who reached out to me directly after the session:

The workshop gave me a gentle pause to reflect, and I walked away with new insights about myself and others that I hadn’t expected to discover. It helped me feel more grounded and reminded me to trust in the direction I’m heading. Being surrounded by such bright, creative, and open-hearted women was genuinely uplifting — it brightened my spirit in a way I didn’t realize I needed.
— Diana
Your guidance helped us rediscover ourselves and amplify our strengths—it was truly eye-opening! I was so inspired by your insights and can’t stop thinking about all the valuable lessons I learned.
— Brina
Your cheerful and supportive presence made the space feel so safe and warm — I truly enjoyed the way you held the room and the empowering conversations that emerged.
— Heuishil

So wonderful to hear their takeaways and that my intention matched the impact. My takeaways:

1. I noticed the importance of the language we use - in this case the guidance of a facilitator but when it comes to the topic of self-promotion as well - are we adding softeners, disclaimers or reducing the impact?

2. If achievement descriptors felt too limiting, try words like accomplishments, contributions, impact, things I want to have more opportunity to do again. Whilst the being part is important, the doing part is what helps outsiders make that tangible. The goal of the session is to help you feel more comfortable with self promotion so that other people can realise the hidden skills and talents that you have. This allows your gifts to be put into service of your community and your shared goals.

3. I also became aware that as everyone comes from a different experience of and comfort with self-promotion, what feels like a light share in my ears could be a huge step forward for the speaker. I like to remind myself that by sharing my #IAmRemarkable statements I am helping others to give themselves permission to recognise something in themselves or to even be inspired to do something differently.
