About the Artist
Jennifer Shinkai is a British-born, Tokyo-based artist whose work explores dreams, coaching, and community through watercolour and textiles. Her three picture books — Can Giraffes Swim?, Gus, and Can Meerkats Swim? — were created between 2020 and 2023. This exhibition marks the first time the original watercolour illustrations from all three books are shown together. Her textile works have previously been exhibited at Sumida Mukojima Expo in both 2023 and 2024.
新開ジェニファーは、イギリス出身・東京在住のアーティスト。水彩とテキスタイルを通して「夢」「コーチング」「コミュニティ」というテーマを表現しています。絵本『キリンは泳げるの？』『ガス』『ミーアキャットは泳げるの？』の3冊は、2020年から2023年にかけて制作されました。本展示では、3冊すべての水彩原画が初めて一堂に会します。彼女のテキスタイル作品は、2023年と2024年のすみだ向島EXPOにも出展されました。
