A decade of connection in Tokyo: Executive Coach Jennifer Shinkai marks 10 years of Coaching and Community

TOKYO, JAPAN — On June 29, 2026, Tokyo-based coach and facilitator Jennifer Shinkai will celebrate 10 years since launching her independent practice. Over the past decade, Jennifer has worked with hundreds of executives, managers, and teams navigating the unique cultural and professional landscape of global business from Japan and Asia Pacific, helping them find clarity, purpose, and a deeper sense of belonging in their work.

Reflecting on the milestone, Jennifer’s primary sentiment is one of gratitude for the partnerships that have shaped her journey. The anniversary marks a conscious shift away from individual isolation toward collective experiences—bringing people together through tactile, analogue interactions, community spaces, and collaborative coaching.

"When I started in 2016, the corporate focus was often on individual performance and climbing the ladder through skill development," says Jennifer Shinkai. "Today, the challenge is different. My clients are successful, but they often feel disconnected, sitting behind screens all day and questioning what their purpose is as a professional but, more deeply, as a human. Over the last decade, I’ve learned that sustainable success doesn't happen in a vacuum. It requires a healthy team environment, creativity, and a genuine sense of community. I’m incredibly grateful to the clients, co-facilitators, and partners who have trusted me to hold that space for them."

Community-Driven Initiatives and Collaborative Futures

As she enters her second decade, Jennifer is focusing on collaborative, community-centric projects that address modern workplace fatigue in addition to her coaching and facilitation programmes for individuals and organisations:

  • Atelier Shinkai & The Silent Book Club: A dedicated, physical community space in Tokyo designed for screen-free connection, reflection, and analog experiences that allow busy professionals to slow down and find their Ibasho (a place where one feels at home).

  • Co-Coaching & Team Facilitation: Partnering closely with co-coaches to offer holistic team and systems coaching that looks at the health of the entire workplace dynamic, rather than just coaching leaders in isolation.

  • Creative Collaborations: Upcoming joint workshops with collaborators designed to blend creative expression, individual Ikigai, and collaborative problem-solving for both individuals and corporate teams.

  • Ikigai with Jennifer Shinkai: Mid way through the 4th season, Jennifer continues to invite interesting people sharing their perspectives on what ikigai means to them. With a diverse group of over 30 guests to date, Podcast listeners and YouTube viewers are sure to find a new way to connect with a sense of ikigai.

  • #IAmRemarkable: As a Silver (soon to be Gold) Tier Facilitator (It isn’t bragging if it is based on facts!), Jennifer remains committed to running 8 pro-bono workshops a year. #IAmRemarkable is a global movement that empowers everyone to celebrate their achievements in the workplace and beyond.

Experiential Invitations for Media and Corporate Leaders

Rather than hosting a formal celebration at this stage, Jennifer is opening the doors to her community initiatives this summer to spark meaningful, grounded connections.

  • For Media: Jennifer Shinkai is available for commentary and interviews regarding the shifting dynamics of Tokyo’s corporate culture, the antidote to hybrid work isolation, and the evolving definition of Ikigai for modern professionals.

  • For Corporate Teams & Individuals: Leaders interested in introducing analogue, collaborative experiences to their teams, or individuals looking to reconnect with their creative purpose, are invited to visit Atelier Shinkai or join an upcoming community gathering. Details on upcoming events can be found on her website.
