Celebrating Achievements: Reflections from Our Recent #IAmRemarkable Workshop with FAJ

On September 30th, I had the pleasure of facilitating an online #IAmRemarkable workshop for FAJ (Faciliter l’Ambition des Femmes au Japon | 日仏女子力). As a Gold Tier facilitator, this marked my final pro bono organizational session of 2026.

FAJ has also published a lovely flashback recap of the workshop on their website (in French), which you can read on the Femmes Actives Japon site.

Key Takeaways from the Session

In each session, I get different takeaways as a facilitator based on the unique blend of participants who attend:

  1. The power of consistency: In today's session, I noticed a connecting thread between many of the statements: consistency, showing up when it was hard, and overcoming limiting self-beliefs or challenging circumstances. It was very inspiring to notice that shared strength connecting FAJ members!

  2. "Accomplishments don't speak to ourselves": Lea gave a total mic drop in response to the core phrase "Accomplishments don't speak for themselves" with: "Accomplishments don't speak TO ourselves!" BOOM! We often dismiss what we did as "just doing our job" or ordinary, everyday normal, but when we break down the steps to an accomplishment, we can really see it through a new lens. L San also inspired me to think about balancing hearing from others about what they value in us with recognizing what we value in ourselves. The former is a useful practice for overcoming blind spots, but if it becomes what Tara Mohr calls "getting hooked on praise," it turns into a slippery slope that can lead to playing small and falling out of alignment with our own values.

What Participants Said

Here is what Gaelle Chatenet (Well-Being Coach at Gaelle Chatenet Sophrology and Coaching in Tokyo and Well-Being Branch Lead for FAJ) shared about the experience:

“Jennifer is very warm and easy-going. She knows how to keep the conversation going even when the participants are a bit shy over Zoom. One participant mentioned in her introduction that she was shy and not sure she could share much during the WS, but thanks to Jennifer, she ended up speaking up several times.

The workshop in itself is great, and she delivers it with confidence. Bringing her kindness and smile into the mix, making everyone feel safe, comfortable, and valued.”
